Measuring Application Functional Size using Static Analysis

OutSystems’ core product, the Agile Platform, is a full life-cycle application development and management platform targeted at enterprise web apps. With it our customer’s can build and manage a full application including the data layer, the business logic, the user interface and business processes. The Agile Platform is a model driven environment with the following emphasis:
* low cost development, maintenance, and operation;
* complete language for database centric enterprise web applications;
* visual programming environment (easy to learn, easy to rotate people in projects).

OutSystems is incorporating automated function point counting capabilities into the Agile Platform, counting both the size and productivity for projects which are built with the platform. The automated function point technology adheres to the International Function Point Users Group standards. OutSystems end-goal is to allow our customers to benchmark against industry standards and our customer base, to support OutSystems’ marketing message of productivity and to understand how to further improve OutSystems customers’ efficiency and effectiveness.

This talk will address the problems related with measuring application functional size using static analysis in this context.
