IBM SUR Equinox Research & Education Programme: Cluster and Grid Computing - 2004-2006 Technical Note: The 2004 SUR grant has been used to promote experimentation with high performance computer applications such as simulation of pollutant transport models, parallel text mining, and simulation of network routing, replica management and security algorithms. This equipment has been also used to support ongoing research in models, algorithms and tools for cluster and grid environments namely: (i) distributed programming models (groups and design patterns); (ii) tools and environments (monitoring and debugging); (iii) parallel file systems and I/O (parallel access to shared storage; lightweight communication protocols).
