This visit was mainly used to discuss how was evolving the PhD thesis of Sérgio Freitas. It was also usd to prepare project TULIPA on translation from Portuguese text into Brazilian written sign language LIBRAS.
Visit to the Distributed Collaborative Computing Group, School of Computer Science, Cardiff University, for the continuation of the construction of a prototype for pattern operator-based application construction on Grid environments, using the Triana workflow system.
This visit was done in the framework of ERASMUS cooperation project. Two talks were delivered on word sense automatic discrimination and on automatic extraction of multi-word Units.
Collaboration under the Profundis project.
This visit was mainly devoted to participate in the jury for a MSC exam by Ayrton Cristo Filho. It was also used to discuss on latest results achieved by the research led at UNL for the area of Human Language Technologies.
Gabriel Lopes was the invited Speaker of the First Brazilian Meeting for "Ambientes Hipermídia para Aprendizagem (Hypermedia environments for Learning)" that took place at Florianópilis, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The talk was on "Portais Pro-Activos para Acesso a Informaçao (Pro-active portals for having access to information)". During this Meeting taught a 4 and a half hours course on "intelligent multilingual access to multilingual information".
Research collaboration on termination of concurrent processes.
Meeting for preparinthe WINNER project proposal to be submitted to e-content area to 6th framework programme. The project was submitted but was not approved.
Reunion with Eric de la Clergerie to fix down the content of the cooperation research proposal to be submitted in France and Portugal till 18 May 2004. This was the preparation for KLING project.
